Brookfield, Ill. — With the weather cooling off this weekend, August 26 and 27, it’s the perfect time to get back outdoors and head to Brookfield Zoo. The Zoo’s ZooBrew for guests 21-and-over-only takes place on Saturday. And, on Sunday, families can celebrate and show their appreciation for firefighters, EMS workers, police officers, and other first responders.

Seasoned beer aficionados and novice enthusiasts who are 21 years of age or older and looking to expand their knowledge on the most popular alcoholic beverage in the world can attend the Zoo’s annual ZooBrew at the Pavilions on August 26. The unique beer-tasting event allows attendees the opportunity to sample from 80-plus varieties of ales, lagers, stouts, seltzers, ciders, and hard lemonades, as well as take time to walk around the park to see their favorite animals.
 
Enjoy libations poured by representatives from more than 20 breweries. Throughout the event, a variety of menu items that pair seamlessly with beer will be available for purchase. And, to add to the ambiance, a DJ will be spinning tunes for those who want to dance to their hearts’ content. Choose from three sampling sessions that range in price from $40 to $95 per person. Designated driver options, which include unlimited soft drinks, also available and range in price from $30 to $55.
 
All beer enthusiasts receive beer samplings, admission and parking to Brookfield Zoo, and a commemorative ZooBrew pint glass to take home. VIP attendees also receive exclusive samplings of specialty brews and food, and a meet-and-greet session with the Zoo’s animal ambassadors. First Responder Day
On August 27, guests of all ages can meet representatives from approximately 30 first responder agencies in the Chicagoland area, who will be showcasing the vehicles and equipment they use to keep their communities safe. First responders from Brookfield Zoo’s own Police Department to communities, including Westmont, Bellwood, Chicago, Worth, and Western Springs, as well as the Illinois State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Secret Service, will be on hand for the event.
 
Also making appearances and greeting guests will be K-9 and therapy dogs from the various police departments, including the Zoo’s K-9 police dog, Kirby. Throughout the day, youngsters can collect giveaways (while supplies last) to remember their day.
 
After visiting with the first responders, guests can spend the day walking around the Zoo to see their favorite animals, including an addax calf, Asha, a 2-year-old reticulated giraffe; and Hudson and Hope, the Zoo’s polar bears.
