Brookfield Zoo’s Flamingos Named
Nearly 5,000 votes received to help name two of the chicks

Brookfield, Ill. — Nearly 5,000 votes have been tallied, and two of Brookfield Zoo’s nine flamingo chicks have names, thanks to the public. The male’s name is Fabio and the name selected for the female is Fiona. Guests can see all of the young birds at the Zoo’s Swamp habitat as well as during daily outdoor appearances at noon around Roosevelt Fountain, weather permitting.

Those interested in supporting the flamingos at Brookfield Zoo can contribute to the Animal Adoption program. For $35, a recipient receives the Friend Package, which includes a personalized certificate of adoption, a 5-inch x 7-inch color photograph of an American flamingo, a fact sheet on the species, an Animal Adoption program decal, and an invitation to the exclusive 2024 Animal Adoption summer event. The $65 Plush Package includes all the benefits of the Friend Package as well as an adorable 12-inch pink plush flamingo and four free tickets to the Animal Adoption evening in 2024.
