Bison Prairie Grill & Bear Crossing Gifts

Take a break while exploring Great Bear Wilderness to visit the exhibit’s naturally-inspired eatery and gift shop.
Bison Prairie Grill
With a menu inspired by the Northwoods, and outdoor seating featuring views of bison and prairie landscapes, Bison Prairie Grill combines a beautifully rustic environment with hearty culinary delights.
Relax at picnic tables while savoring free-range bison burgers, Navajo tacos, Corona-battered cod, Texas-style pulled pork sandwiches, grilled Angus burgers, and barbecue chicken breast sandwiches. Northwest-inspired sides include homestyle macaroni and cheese, cowboy beans, sweet potato fries, fried green beans, cinnamon apples, and hand-cut potato chips. Other tempting menu choices include Connie’s flat bread pizzas, portobello mushroom sandwiches, freshly-made salads, cookies, and chocolate-covered pretzels. Adults can complement their sandwiches with specialty beers from Leinenkugel’s, Blue Moon, and Miller Lite.
While the fare at Bison Prairie Grill is big on taste, it doesn’t skimp on health or environmental concerns. Free-range bison burgers offer a tasty alternative to beef—and support the reintroduction of bison to their natural habitat. In recent years, bison meat has grown in popularity because of its low-fat and high-iron content, resulting in the expansion of bison ranching. As demand for natural prairie-fed and free-range bison expands, so does the restored prairie habitat on which these bison roam.

Bear Crossing Gifts
The structure and décor of Bear Crossing Gifts reflects the conservation theme found throughout Great Bear Wilderness. From shelves fashioned from old doors to rustic decorations of recycled tin, the gift shop displays a commitment to reducing, reusing, and recycling alongside its exhibit-themed merchandise.
The shop features a wide range of Native-American-crafted products. From dream catchers and drums to art prints and jewelry, these cultural artifacts highlight the interrelatedness of animals and people.
Other items celebrate the iconic animals of the exhibit, including plush versions of grizzly and polar bears, and bison and wolves, animal-themed throws, prints, garden statuary and wind chimes.
Many products provide guests with the opportunity to help preserve exhibit species through their purchases. For every pound of organic Grizzly Blend coffee purchased, a donation of $1 is given to The Vital Ground Foundation to support the conservation and restoration of bear habitat. Reusable water bottles, insulated lunch bags fashioned from recycled plastic, and journals made from post-consumer recycled paper save the energy and resources used to craft products from raw materials—and help keep wild areas pristine.
