Two Bactrian camels, one born on February 28 and the other on March 22, 2008, have made their public debuts at Brookfield Zoo. There are about 125 Bactrian camels in accredited North American zoos, and the wild population, numbered at fewer than 1,000, is endangered.

Radiologists from Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital performed the first-ever documented hydrothermal ablation, or HTA, on a nonhuman primate. This procedure, which is much less invasive than a hysterectomy, coagulates the endometrium, or inner lining of the uterus.
