History in the Making

A new Brookfield Zoo history book is out, just in time for our celebration of the zoo's 75th year!

Written by CZS employees Carla Owens and Doug Deuchler, with contributions by staff photographer Jim Schulz, the volume will guide readers on a sepia-toned stroll through Brookfield Zoo and Chicago Zoological Society history.

Owens, CZS manager of library services, and Deuchler, a retired school teacher and seasonal zoo tram driver, delved deep into the park's history--and the CZS archives--in order to recount the zoo's past with striking images and tantalizing facts.

The book, published through Arcadia, is available at gift shop shelves and through our online Gift Shop, so make sure to look for it on your next visit. It should also be available through Amazon.com while supplies last.
