Administrative Assistant - Conservation, Education, & Training
Responsibilities:
Provides full range of administrative and clerical support to the Conservation, Education, and Training Group. Provides administrative support for Conservation, Education and Training staff, including but not limited to: managing incoming calls, filing and copying as needed, distributing mail, faxing documents, processing travel forms, collect and process biweekly time sheets, maintaining required computer databases, responding to lecture series registration messages and other related administrative tasks. This key position on the Development team researches, develops and submits proposal requesting support for the Chicago Zoological Society’s programs, general operating fund, endowment fund, and Leadership Campaign. Director, Major Gifts – Development
Responsibilities:

Manages a portfolio of approximately 150 prospects with responsibility for moving them from qualification through solicitation. With VP of Development and other Development Directors, managers and works to develop and support a cadre of well-trained, high-level trustees and volunteers for the major gifts program. Prepares training materials and actively assists and participates in the solicitation as appropriate. Works closely with other Development Directors to coordinate efforts with the goal of maximizing gift potential for the major gift campaign and future campaigns. Also, working closely with appropriate Development staff, utilizes and analyzes data from the electronic database (e.g., screening profiles) to maximize campaign giving potential while supporting the annual fund program. Works closely with the Senior Vice President of Advancement and Vice President of Development to identify, cultivate and develop solicitation strategies for Leadership Campaign prospects, including individuals, foundations and corporations. Maintenance Manager, Facilities - Plant and Facilities
Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Manager, Facilities is responsible for scheduling, coordinating and managing construction and maintenance of facilities and utilities throughout the Park in support of the institution’s mission and identified operating goals; ensuring facilities are appropriately maintained, with respect to Electric, Water & Gas, HVAC, and Life Support in order to support the institution’s communication objectives; and ensuring new construction is timely, cost effective and in harmony with institutional goals and practices. Plant Engineering Specialist - Plant and Facilities
Responsibilities:
The Plant Engineering Specialist assists Project Engineers in Master Planning efforts and major capital construction and renovations and assists in coordination of construction activities, promoting Society interests and advising appropriate Society staff of progress and pertinent and emergent information. Assist in facilitation of the design and engineering element of all long range capital and Master Planning construction including, provision of consultant services, and project commissioning and follow through. As a key role in our Plant and Facilities group, the Project Engineer, Capital Programs primary responsibility is for coordination and supervision of major capital construction and renovations; integrally involved in long-range and strategic facility planning efforts of the Society; and responsible for direct and onsite supervision and coordination of construction activities, promoting Society interests, project managers, and informing and advising appropriate Society staff of progress and pertinent and emergent information. Senior Manager, Local and Regional Conservation - Conservation, Education & Training
Responsibilities:
With conservation and education program staff, develops, implements, and leads a comprehensive and integrated Center of Excellence in local and regional conservation and science programs for a world-class zoological institution. These regional initiatives include the Chicago Zoological Society’s Great Lakes Restoration Program, including but not limited to the coordination of the Zoo and Aquarium Partnership for the Great Lakes. Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive, integrated conservation portfolio of local and regional initiatives as outlined in the 2004 Strategic Plan for the Chicago Zoological Society (CZS). Establishes relationships and partners with hiring managers to understand business goals and staffing needs, preferred candidate profile and identifies recruitment sources to recommend and implement optimal recruitment strategies. Proactively and effectively manages open positions. Conducts thorough screening and in-depth behavioral interviews to properly assess skill sets and competencies of candidates and to obtain work history, education, training, compensation requirements, and other job-related information to assess organizational fit and refer most qualified candidates. Review and discuss candidates considered and manager’s selection recommendations including counseling on offer details. Prepares final offer packet for review and approval by required internal approvals for full-time and regular, part-time positions. Negotiates and extends job offers for assigned positions. Prepares Payroll Advice forms for manager’s signature for new hires/rehires. Maximize current recruitment sources and identify new recruitment sources; to develop creative sourcing strategies to continually and proactively build a diverse candidate pipeline. Posts job announcements internally and externally (community organizations, university career centers, internet and niche job boards, etc.). Researches and recommends sources and organizations to Manager, Talent Acquisition for approval. Prepares or assists with preparation of job announcements. Disseminates information externally regarding available positions, including traditional weekly or biweekly sources. Develops and places internal job postings, website postings, and external job announcements, Help Wanted ads, posts employment bulletin on Intranet weekly, etc. Corresponds with candidates to notify them of employment consideration and/or keeps candidates informed regarding the recruitment process until position is filled. Partners with hiring managers throughout the process and keeps managers appropriate informed of status of recruitment activities and communications with candidates. Conducts and oversees post-offer follow-up, including correspondence, arranging new hire orientation, confirmation letters, pre-adverse and adverse impact letters if needed, complete file documentation in accordance with established procedures, notifications to appropriate staff, etc. Actively contributes towards effective recruiting metrics such as cost per hire, time to fill, customer satisfaction, etc.
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Behavioral Science, Psychology, or other closely related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Minimum five years+ directly relevant full-cycle “corporate” recruitment experience required successfully managing volume including management level and niche positions with results orientation. Non-profit experience and/or agency experience is desirable. Proven ability to actively, creatively, and effectively source candidates through various recruitment strategies not limited to but including targeted research, cold calling, internet, professional networking, etc. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in recruitment function including screening candidates, behavioral-based interviewing, candidate management, capture strategies, offer negotiations, legal compliance and other HR systems, processes and procedures. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills required; strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects with minimal supervision. Demonstrated initiative and ability to take action on information and resolve complex issues using sound business , judgme, nt. Computer literacy required; experience with ATS, HRIS, database, spreadsheet, and/or word processing systems required; Windows 2000 and/or Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) experience preferred. Highly professional appearance and demeanor. Strong customer focus and appropriate service approach. Demonstrated skills in collaborative approach to build strong internal and external relationships. Team player with willingness to get involved and assume additional responsibilities. Ability to maintain confidential information. Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Behavioral Interview Training Certified and AIRS certification a plus. Sponsorship Manager - Marketing
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the achievement of the institution's marketing objectives primarily through securing sponsorships that positively impact the institution's finances and increase the zoo's visibility with its external audiences. Develop and execute effective multi-year sponsorship agreements. Oversee the development and execution of sponsorship support for promotion of the zoo, and support the zoo's public event series.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing or equivalent combination of training and/or experience required. Minimum of seven years of relevant marketing or sponsorship experience required; two years in a supervisory/management capacity required. Proven track record in securing sponsorships at the $75K+ level. Experience in developing relationships with national and Chicago-based corporate and marketing contacts. Experience contributing to plan development, creating budgets, and timelines/key date schedules required. Strategic thinker and orientation with strong conceptual skills required. Proven ability to be proactive with respect to institutional evaluation needs, activities, and issues; and ability to deal with emergent issues, multiple projects, and clients simultaneously required. Detail orientation, persistent and helpful in bringing together the resources to successfully get the job done required. Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with a warm, amiable personality required. Ability to interact well with internal departments, outside vendors, suppliers, prospective and current sponsors; able to build and maintain positive working relationships; and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment essential. Strong communication skills--verbal, written, listening and presentation skills--required. Must be able to assimilate information quickly and translate to institution's marketing needs. Vice President of Marketing & Communications
Responsibilities:
Plans and directs overall marketing program, resources, and activities to achieve established institutional goals and objectives, including but not limited to marketing and promotions, advertising, communications, public relations, design/graphic arts, editorial services, website administration, sponsorships, tourism, marketing outreach, in-park events and entertainment, marketing research, and more. Oversees internal and external communications to assure coherency and consistency with overall marketing and communications plan and objectives. Works closely with senior managers to provide a comprehensive, integrated marketing and communications program.
Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Marketing or Communications or equivalent combination of training and experience required, preferably at a non-profit cultural institution with an educational and/or cause-related mission or a major destination attraction. Minimum 10 years directly relevant marketing experience, including seven or more years at a senior management level overseeing staff and operations. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective marketing plans, strategies, and programs. Solid experience in market research and analysis, budget development and management, and producing quality deliverables within stated timeframes.
