Zoo Tunes at Brookfield Zoo Features Country Music on August 23

Brookfield, IL—Zoo Tunes, Brookfield Zoo’s summer concert series, presented by Bank of America, concludes on Sunday, August 23, with a trio of music performers: Josh Gracin, Darryl Worley, and Cross County Junction. The free concerts take place on the East Mall. So gather the family and head to Brookfield Zoo for some good ol’ country music.

Locally based Cross County Junction gets the show started at 1:00 p.m. Not your typical country band, Cross County Junction brings together a different mix of music that features a solid rhythm section and a dynamic blend of harmonies that come together into one explosive performance.

Following at 3:00 p.m., multiplatinum country music star Darryl Worley is sure to add some new fans and meet some old ones when he takes the stage. Zoogoers will be entertained with his from-the-heart songs, soulful vocals, and American pride during an energetic concert. From his wistful romantic “I Miss My Friend” to the defiant anthem “Have You Forgotten?”—both of which topped the singles charts—his repertoire of songs will include something for everyone.

Rounding out the day’s performances at 5:00 p.m. is country artist Josh Gracin. From the high-speed, fun-filled romp of “Favorite State of Mind” and the rowdy cut of “All About Y’all” to the tender words of “Sweet September,” Gracin music is sure to get the audience up on their feet dancin’. Gracin first entered America’s homes as one of the most charismatic and distinctive performers in the second season of American Idol, where he finished in fourth and was the first contestant to bring country music to the pop-oriented hit show

All Zoo Tunes performances are free with regular zoo admission of $12 for adults and $8 for children 3 to 11 and seniors 65 and older. Parking is $8. For further information, visit www.CZS.org or call (708) 688-8000. Zoo Tunes is sponsored in part by American Airlines.

Celebrating its 75th year, Brookfield Zoo, which is managed by the Chicago Zoological Society, inspires conservation leadership by connecting people with wildlife and nature. Open every day of the year, the zoo is located off First Avenue between the Stevenson (I-55) and Eisenhower (I-290) expressways and is also accessible via the Tri-State Tollway (I-294), Metra commuter line, CTA, and PACE bus service.
