Zoo Tunes Continues at Brookfield Zoo with Free Concerts on July 12


Brookfield, IL—Grab your lawn chair and head to Brookfield Zoo’s East Mall on Sunday, July 12, for musical performances by Castellano and award-winning artist Fanny Lú. The concerts are part of the zoo’s summer-long free Zoo Tunes concert series presented by Bank of America.

At 4:00 p.m. the five-member band Castellano will take the stage. Each of the musicians brings together his own individual style that together creates a special blend and range of music. The group’s original lyrics, rock riffs and Latin rhythms add freshness to the music scene.

Following at 5:00 p.m. Columbia-native Fanny Lú will have guests dancin’ on the mall with her mix of pop and vallenato accordion music. Since the release of her first album, Lágrimas Cálidas in 2006, Lú has been nominated for a Latin Grammy award, two Lo Nuestro Awards, and six Latin Billboard Music Awards. She on the Latin Billboard Music Award for Tropical Airplay New Artist Song of the Year for her hit "Y Si Te Digo". The lead single from her second album,"Tú No Eres Para Mi," was heralded as the official song of the year in Columbia after being the number one song played on the radio for more than 11 weeks. July’s Zoo Tunes musical talent is provided by Univision Radio 106.7 Mi Musica.

Final concerts in the series take place at the zoo on Sunday, August 23, and feature performances by Cross County Junction at 1:00 p.m., Darryl Worley at 3:00 p.m., and Josh Gracin at 5:00 p.m.
