Brookfield, IL—Bundle up the family and head to Brookfield Zoo for the Thanksgiving Day Feast for the Animals, on Thursday, November 26, at noon.

Bluebell and Moodspot (draft horses); Mac and Cheese (Nubian goats); Magnolia, Emma, and Crissey (Holstein cows); and Heidi (reindeer) will be awaiting zoogoers, who can assist Children’s Zoo keepers in feeding them nutritious tasty treats. Menu items include apples, carrots, sweet corn, oranges, timothy hay, alfalfa, hog chow, grapes, lettuce, bananas, and duck chow.

After helping out, guests can watch as zookeepers feed some of the not-so-tame animals like the hawks, bald eagle, owls, woodchucks, and raccoons.

Children’s Zoo is free through March 1, 2010. Admission to Brookfield Zoo is $12 for adults and $8 for children 3-11 and seniors 65 and over. Children 2 and under are free. Free general zoo admission is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, including Thanksgving Day, through February. Additionally, Saturdays and Sundays are free in January and February. Children 2 and under are free. Car parking is $8.

Celebrating its 75th year, the Chicago Zoological Society, which manages Brookfield Zoo, inspires conservation leadership by connecting people with wildlife and nature. Open every day of the year, Brookfield Zoo is located off First Avenue between the Stevenson (I-55) and Eisenhower (I-290) expressways and is also accessible via the Tri-State Tollway (I-294), Metra commuter line, CTA, and PACE bus service.
