Chicago Zoological Society

Brookfield Zoo’s oldest resident—Cookie, a Major Mitchell’s cockatoo—is turning 77, and
the Chicago Zoological Society invites bird lovers of all ages to come celebrate his special
day in high-flying style at 10:30 a.m. at Perching Bird House. 


Cookie is the only remaining member of the zoo’s original animal collection, and retired in September 2009, but will be making a special appearance on his big day.


Of the more than 120 million visitors that have passed through Brookfield Zoo, most have probably seen Cookie, and he is the only animal that receives a steady supply of fan mail. For his 77th birthday, join zookeepers in singing “Happy Birthday” and watch as Cookie receives a special, muffin-size cake created especially for him!
