The Chicago Zoological Society's ("Society") Web sites are intended to inform you about the Brookfield Zoo, its animals, exhibits, conservation, research and events. This information is designed to "provide for the recreation and education of the people, the conservation of wildlife and the discovery of biological knowledge" as set forth in the Brookfield Zoo's Mission Statement.
In some places on these sites, you may be asked to provide your name, address and other information. The Society collects this information to help improve site content and to provide site administrators with necessary information about site usage and needs or to fulfill informational requests. This information, which is voluntarily provided, is not intended to be shared with third parties. No one, however, can guarantee the complete security of information transmitted over the Internet. Therefore, you should be careful about personal information which is provided to any Society or other Web site. The Society will make every effort to safeguard personal information provided on this site. It may be necessary to release this personal information if required by law or by other judicial or governmental order.
The Society will use cookies to facilitate e-commerce transactions. Additionally, the Society may use cookies to monitor those individuals who access this Web site.
If you sign up for an e-mail list through Society sites, you may receive regular communication about the subject requested or similar subjects.
If you sign up for a Society event or activity through a Society site, you may receive responsive communication via U.S. mail, e-mail or by telephone (as detailed on the online registration form). User information will be used solely to fulfill the registration process except in those cases in which a third party is directly charged by the Society for registration of a Society event or activity. In those cases, the third party's privacy policy will be in effect.
The Society is concerned about protecting the privacy of children who visit its Web sites. The Society supports and is in compliance with the Children Online Privacy Act even though this Act does not currently apply to non-profit organizations. The consent of a parent is required before the Society will collect or use any personal information from a child under the age of 13. At any time, a parent may review a child's personal information, ask to delete the child's personal information and refuse to allow further collection or use of information form the child.
The Society reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time and without notice. Please check back frequently in the event of changes. Changes will be binding upon implementation and it is your responsibility to review the terms of use periodically.
