Make Giving Tuesday a Giving Zoo Day!

Giving Tuesday
is a global celebration that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday to shift the focus onto what's important this holiday season: giving back. Whether you're a zoo member, guest, or simply someone passionate about animal conservation, you are an instrumental part of what makes Brookfield Zoo and the Chicago Zoological Society a world-class institution. We share your passion for animals by caring for exotic and endangered species from around the globe but their day-to-day care is only possible through your continuous support.

It's thanks to the generosity of donors, members, guests, and others that we have been able to accomplish so much over the years in the realm of animal care and conservation.

- Brookfield Zoo was the first in North America to experience the successful birth of the very rare and endangered okapi under managed care.

- Our Center for the Science of Animal Care and Welfare is the first of its kind, advancing the science of animal care using revolutionary methods and technology.

- We are the first and only zoo to perform a digital CT scan on a living rhino. That resulted in the extraordinary, life-saving surgery on Layla, our popular black rhino.

- Brookfield Zoo hosted the first-ever international symposium to seek solutions for saving highly endangered pangolins (the “scaly anteater”), the world’s most-trafficked mammal that is nearly extinct in the wild.

On Tuesday, December 3, we hope you will consider making a donation to the Chicago Zoological Society and Brookfield Zoo as we continue our quest to take a cutting-edge role in animal care and conservation of the natural world. We ask that you make any Giving Tuesday donations on our Facebook page as they are matching up to $7 million in eligible donations across their platform.

Not only will you help make a real difference for the animals here but you'll also have the chance to win exciting prizes. Every hour between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 pm. Central, we will be picking a winner at random from the pool of donors who gave at least $10 in that specific time period. That winner will win one of these fantastic prizes:

We'll announce which prize will be given away during each hour on Facebook as well as our Twitter and Instagram feeds, so be sure you're following us on all of them. You don't want to miss any of these awesome opportunities. Every donor who gives at least $10 will also be eligible for the grand prize, given to a randomly selected winner from the pool of all donors on Giving Tuesday.

If you don't think your donation makes a difference, think again. Your $25 donation could end up feeding one of our ring-tailed lemurs for a month. Your $50 donation could cover the cost of a West Nile Virus treatment for one of our California seals. Your $150 donation could end up feeding one of our bison for a month. And a $1,000 donation could feed one of our endangered Mexican gray wolves for six whole months.

But even if you only give a few dollars, that helps that helps inspire conservation leadership by engaging people and communities with wildlife and nature.

We hope to see you on the Brookfield Zoo Facebook page on Tuesday, December 3. Look for the Giving Tuesday fundraiser button to make your donation. You can donate anytime but the giveaways begin at 8:00 a.m.
