The jury is still out on why exactly animals play, but it sure is fun to watch!  In fact, as one of the prime spots to watch animals, zoos and aquariums are contributing to research that helps us understand more about the wide spectrum of animal behaviors.  You can do your own observations when you visit a zoo or aquarium by spending time watching your favorite animal.

Sea Lion Strandings

Have you heard about all the sea lion pups found stranded and undernourished off the coast of California?  As of this month, over 1,400 sea lion pups have been found washed up on the shores!

To rescue, or not to rescue

Have you ever rescued a wild animal?  A family in Australia found a Magpie chick, named it “Penguin,” and raised it to adulthood. Now, “Penguin” seems to spend part of her time as a wild bird, and part of her time as a member of a human family.
