Brookfield Zoo’s New 3D Theater Comes to Life

Brookfield, Ill. – The Chicago Zoological Society, which manages the Brookfield Zoo, is excited to announce its new 3D theater located in the zoo’s Discovery Center. As a way to offer an enhanced sensory experience and visit for zoo guests, captivating and educational 3D films are available for viewing daily beginning at 10:00 a.m. The two 20-minute films alternate every half hour and give zoogoers an incredibly immersive experience right from their seats before heading out to enjoy seeing the animals.

Wild Africa, a series created and produced by BBC Earth, explores the natural history of the African continent and features the lives of some of the most iconic African animals giving insight to how their lives are affected by the presence and absence of water.

The second film also created and produced by BBC Earth, Walking with Dinosaurs: Prehistoric Planet 3D, illustrates how paleontologists imagine a year in the lives of a herd of plant-eating dinosaurs. Through imagination and creativity using computer-generated imagery, scientists and producers were able to recreate dinosaurs in their natural habitats for the series.

The cost for the 3D movie experience is $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-11 and seniors 65 and over. Prices includes a rental fee for a pair of 3D glasses to enjoy the show. Tickets may be purchased at any of the zoo’s ticket booths or at Discovery Center. For more information on the new 3D theater, please visit czs.org/3D or call (708) 688-8000.
