Brookfield Zoo Health & Safety Update


Chicago Zoological Society (CZS) is excited to announce that Brookfield Zoo will be reopening to members on July 1 and all guests as of July 8. Please visit our Know Before You Go page for all the details. 


“The health and safety of our guests, volunteers, staff, and animals is of paramount importance. We have been extremely diligent in communicating to staff the most recent updates from health officials, increased the strength of disinfectants used within the park to hospital grade, posted signage reminding guests and staff of proper hygiene and social distancing, suspended staff travel, and instructed employees to stay home if they were not feeling well. As the situation has progressed, we have a responsibility to do our part to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.”


As a non-profit, Brookfield Zoo relies on ticket sales, donations, annual memberships, fundraising events, philanthropic gifts and support from our community partners. Here are some ways you can help support us during this temporary closure when many of those resources are unavailable.

* Consider making a donation that will immediately support our animal care and welfare programs, as well as, other critical operations of the Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo. Your contribution is so important and will be used in the area of greatest need at the zoo during this uncharted and challenging time.

Now that Brookfield Zoo has reopened, will you extend my membership?

Yes. We have added time to the end of your membership to accommodate for the time missed due to the closure. A personalized postcard was mailed to all members on June 29 with information about the expiration date adjustment. In an effort to conserve much needed financial resources, new membership cards will not be sent. The barcode on your current membership card will scan with the updated expiration date. If you joined or renewed during the zoo’s closure, the extension period was added to your membership expiration before we mailed your materials.

When can I expect my new membership material to arrive?

If you joined or renewed during the zoo’s closure, your new membership materials were mailed in the last two weeks of June.  They should arrive in mailboxes soon.

Do members need a timed ticket for entry?

Yes, all zoo visitors, including members, must have a timed entry ticket to be admitted to the zoo. Members may reserve a visit date at
