Alonso Bussalleu

Alonso Bussalleu graduated as Bacherlors in Science from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in 2011. In 2013 he completed a MSc. degree with a major in biology at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, USA. For his master´s he evaluated the reproductive success in relation to characteristics of nesting habitat of Humboldt penguins. Since 2007 Alonso has participated in various field projects at Punta San Juan, focusing mainly on Humboldt Penguins. Alonso has participated in population health assessments of wild Humboldt penguins and fur seals, Peru´s national census of Humboldt penguins, foraging trip evaluations for Humboldt penguins, analysis of the abundance and annual cycle Humboldt penguin and technical advisory for the development of sustainable guano within the reserve based on wildlife data. The main focus of his work is seabird ecology and conservation, based on the role of top predators and their possible use of these as indicators of ecosystem health.
