Bottlenose Dolphin - Tapeko

Tapeko was born in January 1982 and arrived at Brookfield Zoo Chicago in 1991.  She is an experienced mother of Noelani and Allison and was also a surrogate for her grandson when one of her daughters, a then first-time mom, was unable to provide proper care of her own calf.  She is our largest female dolphin and can be identified by distinct vertical lines on her melon (forehead) that are visible from her blowhole to her rostrum (mouth).  She also has a pink ventral side (underside).  By adopting Tapeko, you are helping us provide the best of care for the Zoo's animals.
