National Veterinary Technician Week (Oct. 14-20, 2018) is an annual weeklong event started in 1993 to recognize and celebrate the backbone of every veterinary practice: the certified veterinary technician.
Certified vet techs are an integral part of the veterinary team and perform a wide variety of technical functions. From expert medical care, collection and analysis of laboratory samples, patient monitoring, operation of advanced imaging equipment (CT, ultrasound, radiographs) and participation in complex surgical procedures vet techs rely on their vast skillset to accomplish amazing feats on a daily basis.

The Brookfield Zoo is fortunate to have seven incredibly talented vet techs on our hospital team; Mary Ann Duda, Michelle Soszynski, Ashlee Webb, Michelle Eastridge, Jenny Klasen, Kate Sladek and Ashley Gibson.
This incredible crew of professionals has decades of combined experience and without their tireless efforts and skills we would not be able to achieve the advanced level of medical care we provide to our animal patients enabling us to set the standard for veterinary medicine in a zoological setting.
Please join us in celebrating our incredible veterinary technicians and thank them for their hard work, dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence in all they do!
Happy Veterinary Technicians Week!!
