Cat Awareness Weekend 2019

Date: Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, 2019

From the African lions and Amur leopards to the servals and black-footed cats, it's the purr-fect weekend to learn about Brookfield Zoo's many cats. Join us all weekend long for special Zoo Chats, cat-themed activities, and fun for all ages.

 

Special Zoo Chats and Activities Schedule (Both Days):

10:15 a.m. - Snow Leopards Chat
Meet the snow leopards and find out more about their status as endangered animals and what Brookfield Zoo is doing to help.
Location: Big Cats

11:00 a.m. - African Lions Chat
Meet Zenda and Isis, Brookfield Zoo's African lions, and learn more about these noble creatures as well as their threatened status in the wild and what Brookfield Zoo is doing to help.

11:30 a.m. - Domestic Cats Chat
Yes, there are domestic cats here at Brookfield Zoo. Get to know them and find out about the crucial role that cats play in our lives and in the environment.
Location: Hamill Family Play Zoo

1:00 p.m. - Domestic Cats Chat
Yes, there are domestic cats here at Brookfield Zoo. Get to know them and find out about the crucial role that cats play in our lives and in the environment.
Location: Hamill Family Play Zoo

2:00 p.m. - Serval Run
Servals are slender, medium-sized cats that hail from Africa. You'll get a chance to see them in action and also learn more about Churchill and Kyan, our serval Animal Ambassadors. 
Location: South Mall (If it rains, ITW White Oak Room in Wild Encounters)

3:00 p.m. - Fishing Cat Chat
Learn more about some of the most fascinating cats around, the resourceful fishing cat. You'll get the chance to meet these fish-loving felines, learn about their vulnerable status in the wild, and find out how you can help.
Location: Clouded Leopard Rain Forest

3:30 p.m. - Tigers Chat
Get to know the Amur tiger, the largest cat in the world. Meet Whirl and watch her prowl, play with enrichment, and splash in the water. You'll also find out more about their endangered status and how Brookfield Zoo is helping.
Location: Big Cats

4:00 p.m. - Black-Footed Cats Chat
Don't be fooled, the black-footed cat may look like a domestic cat, but they are among the most prolific hunters in the world. Get to know this fascinating creates better and learn more about their vulnerable status in the wild.

Free Admission for Military Personnel

To show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the men and women in the United States Armed Forces, the Chicago Zoological Society is offering free admission to Brookfield Zoo to all active, reservist, and retired members of the military. Qualified personnel who present a valid ID at one of the zoo's admission booths will be admitted free of charge.
