Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat - Mia

While these marsupials are native to Australia, Mia was born at Brookfield Zoo in August 2018 to dam Kambora and sire Daryl. Only the size of a bumblebee at birth, the newborn stay in-pouch for 6-8 months. Once weaned, the joey rides on its mother's back, learning to find food and dig tunnels.
