Reindeer Run

Grab your glow sticks and running shoes and join us on Friday, November 29 for the second annual Reindeer Run!  With a 2-mile course entirely within Brookfield Zoo, you and your family can "fun run" under the lights and be the first to see the lights of Holiday Magic!  Stick around after the Reindeer Run for music, drinks, food, and Animal Ambassadors.

Start Time: 7:00 pm


You may enter the zoo any time after 5:30 pm on November 29.  You must enter through the North Gate Entrance and park in the North Gate Parking Lot.  Once you have parked, please enter the zoo, check-in and receive your commemorative hat, and proceed to the Pavilions. 

Please note: You will not be able to park at the South Gate Entrance.


- 5:30 pm - Registrants can enter and check-in at Brookfield Zoo's North Gate Entrance
- 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm - Carousel and Pavilions open with music, food, and drinks for purchase
- 6:00 pm - Animal Ambassadors
- 7:00 pm - Reindeer Run begins 
- 7:30 pm - Animal Ambassadors


- Reindeer Run is a non-competitive, fun run and will not be timed.
- Runners of all ages are welcome! 
- Animal buildings will not be open.
- Participants are to check-in at the North Gate Entrance.
- Prizes will not be awarded to race finishers.  
- All runners/walkers will need ro register for Reindeer Run. Spectators are welcome but will have very limited access to the zoo (North Mall only - Start/Finish Lines, Pavilions, Carousel Plaza) during the run and will not have access to the zoo after the race.  
- Please Note: If your family would like to stroll through the zoo to see the lights, please visit during one of the regularly scheduled Holiday Magic nights on November 30, December 1, 7-9, 14-15, 21-22, 26-31.  


- Can I walk the run?  Yes, you can walk.  Participants will not be timed.   
- Are strollers allowed?  Yes, strollers are allowed.  Runners/walkers with strollers will line up last.  
If I run with a stroller, do I need to register my child?  No, you do not need to register your child.  Only those running/walking need to be registered.  
- What happens if it rains/snows?  Reindeer Run is a rain, shine, or snow race.  We encourage all participants to be prepared with proper clothing and footwear.

Free Admission for Military Personnel

To show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the men and women in the United States Armed Forces, the Chicago Zoological Society is offering free admission to Brookfield Zoo to all active, reservist, and retired members of the military. Qualified personnel who present a valid ID at one of the zoo's admission booths will be admitted free of charge.
