Brookfield Zoo Health & Safety Update

UPDATE: Please see for updated information regarding Brookfield Zoo's response to the current health & safety situation.

ORIGINAL: The health and safety of our guests, volunteers, staff, and animals are of paramount importance. We have assembled an internal team who is monitoring official government health department information and updates daily to stay abreast of the latest information and are responding as appropriate.

The zoo has already taken the following steps in keeping with best practices and those established by the CDC.

 · Communicating to staff the most recent updates of the Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and local municipality health organization recommendations.

 · Placing increased signage in the restrooms throughout the zoo on proper disease spread prevention (as recommended by the CDC).

 · Increasing the strength of our disinfectant to hospital strength as well as providing additional disinfectant wipes in common areas and urging staff to follow CDC guidance for proper hygiene practices.

 · Suspending non-essential business travel for staff.

 · Continuing to urge managers and supervisors to quickly respond if they see an employee who is sick or demonstrating flu-like symptoms and to send them home immediately.

We will provide any updates or new information as they develop.
